Pole Barn Plans: 24x36 and 30x40 Post-Frame Barn
Plans for a post-frame pole barn in two sizes, 24x36 and 30x40, each with a 12 ft eave, an overhead door and a walk door. Choose the footing: a post on a concrete pad with cleats and tamped gravel, or a post in a concrete pier. The trusses are ordered from a truss supplier with the order sheet in the plans. Easy to follow and thorough, with dimensioned drawings, cut and shopping lists and CAD files. The PDF opens with a permit drawing set you can adapt for your permit application.

Every cut has a letter (A, B, C), and every step shows which lettered parts and which screws go together, so you build it like flat-pack furniture, one step at a time.
You also get dimensioned drawings, a materials and shopping list, a cost spreadsheet and CAD files, so the plans answer the questions that come up while you build.
Permit drawing set included
Permit drawing set included, ready to adapt for your permit application; some building departments require stamped drawings. The PDF opens with a permit drawing set for each build: a site plan template, footing plan, framing plan, elevations, section, typical details, a code reference table, a load and span basis sheet and a materials schedule. These are generic DIY plans with no engineer's or architect's stamp, and the code table is a reference, not a guarantee that your office will accept them. The posts depend on the roof and wall steel acting together as a diaphragm, and the footings are sized for firm sand or gravel soil. Have a licensed engineer or your local building department review the drawings for your site before you build or apply.
CAD files included
A SketchUp-ready 3D model (.dae, every board a named part) plus DXF drawings for AutoCAD, LibreCAD or FreeCAD, so you can change a size, add your lot lines or hand the drawings to a drafter.
What you build
Plans for a post-frame pole barn in 24x36 and 30x40, with a post-on-pad or post-in-pier footing.
6x6 pressure-treated posts set 4 ft in the ground, a 2x12 ply on edge on each face of the posts on the long walls (a post sandwich) to carry the trusses, 2x6 wall girts laid flat 24 in apart, gable trusses at 48 in on center from your truss supplier (the plans give the order sheet with span, spacing, bearing and loads), 2x4 purlins on edge, and metal roof and wall panels. The front has an overhead door and the left wall has a walk door. The floor, slab and electrical are not included. Plan on a crane or a forklift for a day to set the trusses, and on a crew of at least four.
